Point sur l'enquête 10 August à 16 h 00 :
Une pièce métallique avait été retrouvée sur l'accotement de la piste. Après comparaison avec le profil de coupure du pneu détruit au début de la séquence de l'accident, il est probable que cette pièce est bien à l'origine de l'entaille du pneu. Les expertises à venir tenteront de confirmer définitivement ce point. La détermination de l'origine de cette pièce est toujours en cours.
La rupture du pneumatique a eu pour effet la projection, à un moment où l'avion roulait à vitesse élevée (environ 170 noeuds), de morceaux importants (plus de 4 kg pour le plus lourd) et de forte énergie.
Selon un processus qui reste à déterminer, des dommages ont alors été causés très rapidement, à un ou plusieurs réservoirs de l'aile gauche avec comme conséquence une très importante fuite de carburant et l'incendie. Le morceau de réservoir retrouvé sur la piste a été identifié comme provenant du réservoir n° 5.
A titre d'information, chaque aile de Concorde est composée de sept réservoirs qui, pour la partie gauche, sont référencés 9, 10, 1, 5, 6, 2 et 5A sur le schéma ci-dessus. La roue qui portait le pneu détruit pendant le décollage se trouvait approximativement à la verticale de la croix blanche.
Par ailleurs, les groupes de travail continuent à travailler dans les différents domaines qui leur ont été assignés par l'Enquêteur Désigné ainsi qu'à la préparation du rapport préliminaire.
L'Annexe 13 à la Convention relative à l'Aviation Civile et la Loi n° 99-243 du 29 mars 1999, stipulent que l'enquête technique a pour seul objectif la prévention de futurs accidents ou incidents. Cette activité ne vise nullement à la détermination des fautes ou des responsabilités.
