Aujourd'hui dimanche 30 July 2000 les éléments factuels complémentaires suivants sont disponibles :

  1. La masse de l'appareil au décollage était de 185,1 tonnes dont 95 tonnes de carburant.
    • L'annonce V1 par l'équipage a été faite 32 secondes après le lâcher des freins, alors que l'avion avait parcouru 1 200 mètres. Les débris retrouvés se trouvaient après ce point..
    • Une des pièces retrouvées sur la piste paraît provenir d'un réservoir de carburant.
    • L'avion a atteint la vitesse de rotation un peu plus de 900 mètres après le passage de V1.
    • Les flammes aperçues après le décollage ne proviennent pas d'un moteur mais selon toute vraisemblance d'une fuite importante de carburant.
  2. Le travail sur le site continue. Les éléments de l'avion prélevés sont conservés par l'autorité judiciaire.

L'Annexe 13 à la Convention relative à l'Aviation Civile et la Loi n° 99-243 du 29 mars 1999, stipulent que l'enquête technique a pour seul objectif la prévention de futurs accidents ou incidents. Cette activité ne vise nullement à la détermination des fautes ou des responsabilités.
